Women Aid Collective (WACOL), with strategic support from ActionAid Nigeria under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria (RWVL-N) Project, is commencing a transformative five-year intervention in Enugu State aimed at advancing the rights, safety, and socio-economic wellbeing of women and girls. This initiative is designed to address persistent challenges such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), economic vulnerability, weak policy implementation, and limited access to sustainable livelihood opportunities faced by women and girls in Nigeria. The project seeks to build stronger institutions, empowered communities, and responsive systems that protect women and girls while promoting gender equality and social justice. Through multi-sectoral collaboration, capacity strengthening, community engagement, and economic empowerment strategies, the programme will create lasting impact by enhancing prevention and response mechanisms for GBV, supporting women-led resilience initiatives, and strengthening the enforcement of gender-related policies and legal frameworks. This five-year intervention demonstrates WACOL’s continued commitment to ensuring that women and girls live free from violence, enjoy equal opportunities, and participate meaningfully in social and economic development.
