The BUILD grant funded by Ford Foundation is a 5 years project which WACOL implemented its first-year grant from (Nov 2024 to October 2025). For Year 1, it aimed to provide general support for work with traditional leaders on GBV in South-Eastern Nigeria and for project support for institutional strengthening. The project implemented in the South-Eastern Nigeria enhanced institutional capabilities and fostered attitudinal shifts among traditional leaders and communities to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and harmful social norms and ultimately promote women’s rights, especially to live a dignified life free from violence.
