Implementation Progress

WACOL

2026-03-18 08:18:04
Significant progress has been made in establishing a strong foundation for the project. Nine Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) were selected across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, ensuring broad reach and grassroots impact. A comprehensive and culturally sensitive training manual was developed to guide implementation.

An inception meeting formalized partnerships through MoU signing and grant disbursement, enabling timely rollout of activities. A Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop equipped participants with practical skills for GBV prevention and response, while media advocacy increased public awareness and strengthened engagement on GBV issues.

Capacity-building initiatives enhanced financial accountability and monitoring skills among partners. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities, including field visits across multiple states, have supported adaptive implementation, strengthened oversight, and improved evidence-based decision-making.

Programmatic Activities (Year One)
CBOs conducted extensive stakeholder engagement, including over 100 advocacy visits and 35 engagement meetings, reaching more than 1,000 stakeholders across faith, cultural, and government institutions. These efforts established strong partnerships and community ownership.

Media campaigns and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials—such as radio jingles, TV programs, and printed materials—have widely disseminated messages on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Over 1,200 radio jingles and several broadcast programs have deepened public awareness and engagement.

Capacity strengthening efforts have trained hundreds of women leaders across faith and cultural institutions, with a cascading model extending knowledge to thousands more. Additionally, multi-level dialogues and community sensitization workshops have engaged key stakeholders and nearly 9,000 community members, promoting collective action against GBV and encouraging shifts in harmful norms.
